Fearless Chakra (Abhaya)

• Location: one inch above navel

• Function: unafraid of others’ power

Abhaya lies between the pelvic chakra (relations with other people) and the solar plexus chakra (can produce fear), so abhaya governs fear (or not) of other people’s influence and power.

Aimee is a young aspiring actress originally from France. Aimee wanted to feel more embodied and centered while performing in her acting classes. When she goes on stage, she is more concerned with pleasing the teacher rather than focusing on the work. We found that her fearless chakra was samskaric because of the excessive power imbalance in her relationship to her parents. Some of the memories and insights that came up in her Traya work at this chakra related to her parents but especially her mother:

… I had no rights to my feelings. I should just be grateful and thankful.

… Mother was always comparing me to others negatively.

… I am afraid of not living up to others’ expectations. Mom was good at academics and I failed miserably.

As we released these and other related samskaras, she began to feel more sure of herself, connected to her center and present in the moment. Her acting improved because she said, “I am more me.”

Pelvic Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Grounding

Ground by sitting up straight, focusing on the soles of your feet, and breathing in and out of the tertiary chakras in the feet.

Follow the Body Technique

With this technique, you let the deep mind direct you to a location to work on. There are two ways to do this. After grounding, you can just focus on the body and ask, “Where in me is there any energy that needs to move?” Or you can either think of an issue, let’s say feeling uncomfortable in groups, for example. And you ask, “Where in me is the energy related to this?” Using either technique you are led to the pelvic chakra because you feel a sensation there. You then continue with the Traya steps.

Step 1: Focus—Keep your attention one inch below the navel and breathe in and out gently.

Step 2: Surface—Adopt the letting stance and ask, “What memories are here?”

Step 3: Release—Note the memory and start to let negative energy go out by visualizing it coming out of the chakra. Then either go back to step 2 and surface another memory and then repeat step 3 or proceed to step 4. Note that you do not have to let all the energy from the previous memory go out before you surface the next one. You are continuously adding to the outflow of negative energy memory by memory—like adding links to a chain. After you are finished surfacing memories for this session, let all of the negative energy go out and wait until the outflow stops.

Step 4: Replace and Imprint—Visualize positive energy coming in (rays from the sun) and taking up the space that was taken up by the negative energy that went out. Ask, “What is this positive energy bringing in with it?” Note the words that appear in your mind.
